The Combined Defence Services Examination (abbreviated as CDS Exam) is conducted twice a year by the Union Public Service Commission for recruitment into the Indian Military AcademyOfficers Training AcademyIndian Naval Academy and Indian Air Force Academy. The Notification for the examination is usually released in the months of October and June, and the examinations are conducted in February and November respectively.Successful candidates are admitted into the respective Academies after an interview conducted by the Services Selection Board (SSB).


Where to Apply for CDS?

You have to apply in Combined Defnce Services(CDS) which is held by UPSC .After matching the eligibility criteria candidates making it through the selection procedure which is the same as other civil services gets allotment to the Indian Military Academy,Indian Naval Academy,Indian Air Force Academy and Office Training Academy as per his/her rank. 1. Educational Qualification For CDS:


For I.M.A. and Officers’ Training AcademyDegree from a recognized University or equivalent
For Indian Naval AcademyDegree in Engineering from a recognized University or equivalent
For Air Force AcademyDegree of a recognized University (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering

2. Age Limit:


Indian Military Academy19–24years
Air Force Academy19–24 years
Naval Academy19–24 years
Officers’ Training Academy19–25 years


3. Nationality:


Candidate must be unmarried and must be any of the followings:

  1.  A Citizen of India,

  2. A subject of Bhutan,

  3. A subject of Nepal,

  4. A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India,

  5. A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, and Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India. 


4. Number of Attempts for CDS:

CDS Exam-there is no limit on the number of attempts for this exam, but your degree must be over at the time of course commencement. You can apply while in the final year of your degree.


Format of Paper to  get in CDS:

Applicants who will appear in the CDS exam should know the exam pattern of CDS 2020 so that they can qualify the exam with flying colors.

Union Public Service Commission will release the admit card of CDS any time soon in online mode at upsconline.nic.in. Since the exam is slated to be conducted on February 2, 2020 in offline mode. After downloading CDS 2020 admit card candidates should check for any discrepancy and if found then immediately report it to the exam conducting authorities to get it rectified.
