Information about IIT

What is IIT?


The Indian Institute of Technology (IITs)  are an autonomous public technical and research university located in India and are among the most reputable institutes of technology in the world. They are governed by the Institutes of Technology Act, 1961, which has declared them as institutions of national importance and lays down their powers, duties, and framework for governance. The Institutes of Technology Act, 1961 lists twenty-three institutes.
In India in current there are 23 IITs. These IITs offer 11,289 seats overall.


How to get in IITs?


To get into IITs you should compulsory have
  •   10 +2 in PCM ( compulsory )
  •  JEE  ( Joint Entrance Exam ) Mains  and JEE ADVANCE       
These exam is currently hosted or conducted by NTA( National Testing Agency ). The JEE Mains exam is taken twice a year and JEE ADVANCE is taken only once a year

Register in JEE MAINS  through the Website of NTA.  Below is the link for JEE MAINS.


NOTE  :- The below given instruction is for 2020 examinations as the format of JEE MAINS and JEE ADVANCE changes every year.

  Paper Pattern of JEE MAINS:-

  • ·        In current the whole paper comprises of 300 marks..
  • ·        25 question for each section PCM
  • ·        20 MCQ and 5 Numerical problems

Negative marking system for Numerical problem is 0 and for MCQ is -1 . There are 3 Hours given to complete the paper.

Now once if your JEE MAINS is cleared the next main important target for IIT is JEE ADVANCE.

Paper pattern for JEE ADVANCE :-

Register in JEE ADVANCE through the link given below :-

·        Candidates will have to attempt two compulsory papers of JEE Advanced 2020 - Paper I and II.

·        Each paper will 3 hours long in duration (4 hours for PWD candidates). There will only one slot for each paper.

·        The questions in the entrance examination will be from the subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

·        The questions will be multiple choice, numerical and list match sets in nature.

·        There may be some questions which has not one but multiple correct options. For such questions, the candidates will have to select all of the correct options to get the full marks. Partial marks will be awarded if only one or few of the options are correctly selected. In case of no attempt, zero marks will be given.

·        Some questions will be awarding negative marks for incorrect answers. Candidates will be able to find the details about the marking scheme in the question paper.

·        The examination will be held in English and Hindi language. Candidates can select or switch the preferred language anytime during the examination.

·        After this JEE Advance exam the counselling is done the counselling is conducted by JOSAA which gives you the seats in IIT

·        Eligibility criteria in IIT:- 75% above in 3 main subjects and pass in all subjects.
